FIELD TRIPS

Students
are free to explore the City of
Beijing in the afternoons and on weekends. CUPL’s
downtown campus is within a short commute of Tiananmen Square, the Great Hall of the People, the Forbidden City and the Summer Palace. Students are able to travel
freely around the city, walk Beijing’s historic streets
and neighborhoods, and meet its citizens.
The City of Beijing |
To understand
a nation’s laws and its legal system, it is
necessary to understand its people. Beijing, the
magnet city that draws people from all of China’s
provinces, provides an unparalleled opportunity to
“experience” this vast and diverse
nation. |
Scheduled
sightseeing tours of Beijing include field trips to the
National People’s Congress, Beijing's High Court, and law firms; and sightseeing tours to
the Great Wall, Ming Tombs, and the new campus of China
University of Political Science and Law.

| Students may
also visit the city of Xian to tour the Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses
Museum. These statues were discovered in 1974
when a group of peasants unearthed fragments of a
life-sized Terra Cotta Warrior. Futher excavation
of the vault has revealed thousands of warriors
and their horses, with an entire army of warriors
designed to follow the emperor into eternity.
